What You’ll Be Doing as a Service Charge Accountant
As a Service Charge Accountant, you’ll play a key part in managing the financial lifecycle of multiple estates. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing annual budgets and ensuring correct allocation of service charge costs.
  • Managing accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations to maintain accurate accounts.
  • Producing year-end accounts and coordinating with auditors for timely completion.
  • Performing monthly and quarterly bank reconciliations across several client accounts.
  • Compiling financial management reports and providing variance analysis to property managers.
  • Handling leaseholder and client enquiries with professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Assisting with tax and insurance recharges and supporting the wider finance team.
Your ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results to tight deadlines will be key to your success in this role.
 
What We’re Looking For
To excel as a Service Charge Accountant, you should bring:
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting, ideally within property or service charge environments.
  • Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA (or equivalent).
  • Strong working knowledge of accruals, prepayments, bank reconciliations, and year-end processes.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Previous experience using Qube software is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a proactive and solution-driven approach.
